|
|
As mentioned before, I ordered some Super Sculpey for modelling. Well, it arrived earlier today. A few moments later I started on the armature. In between I had to go to university, but by now I've finished the raw modell.
Introducing, the MindScape bunny entering the real world:
It ended up rather large, but there's a layer of tin foil to gain volume, so that I can save on the Sculpey.
Either way, it's really fun working with this material. Let's just hope it survives the baking unharmed.
And me, painting it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Update: April 4, 2008
Alright, it's done. Maybe I'll add some colorless finishing later on, but I think... it's done.
So, let's follow the MindScape Bunny's birth.
When the bunny was born, it used to be very skinny. Poor bunny. This white stuff that holds the joints in place is Pattex clay. Would have used Epoxy Putty, couldn't find it anywhere - but I guess that's about the same.
"I am robot bunny, must kill all humans"
We all know this one already.
*insert power metal song*
(Bunny getting cured in the oven)
Yaaaarrgghhhllllghll
And finally....
...
...
TADA!!!
I'm really happy with how bunny turned out. The proportions are not perfect, the surface could be smoother and the coloring better, but... all in all, it worked out better than I would have imagined.
And I'm already looking forward to my next fun sculpting project. _________________ love the system

Do you really wanna bring things from MindScape into reality?
Anyhow, great work on the sculpting, especially the mouth. I've always been all thumbs with clay of any kind. |

| Very nice. It would be cool to see a flash movie in claymation. |

| I remeber doing that some years ago at school with great success. I made a Norwegian troll. The difficult part is to get the surface as smooth as possible. |

The smoothing of the surface is indeed quite difficult. I hope to get it a little smoother, will have to try various techniques.
Awesome would be, if I'd be able to get my hands on some tin joins. Then I could make a completely moveable, animateable sculpture _________________ love the system |

Cool I love the bunny from MindScape. Looking forward to see him painted.
How much Super Sculpey do you have ? Or are you able to recyle the sculpey from other figures ? _________________ Art is an extension of the soul. If you can not draw you are soulless.

I ordered 2 pounds all in all. For the MindScape bunny, who ended up rather tall at about 20cm needed about 1/4 - 1/3 pound. So there's still enough clay to have fun with
Until it gets cured in the oven you can work with Sculpey as long as you want, since it only gets hard when heated. Of course it may get old and dry, but nonetheless you can take your time when creating something. Once it's cured however, you can't reuse it anymore - besides you usually want to keep the completed figurine anyways _________________ love the system |

Huzzah! The bunny survived the curing. Time to paint it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. _________________ love the system |

You know, you said last week that "These things wouldn't be worth the money to produce for sale."
I suggest just making as many as you feel like making, and then instead of selling them at a fixed price, have us bid on them! _________________

I'd buy one. You should make a figurine of your Lifeblood Colors character and paint him crazy colors! _________________ so this one time I went to the store...

Did anything visible happen to the tin foil while heating? _________________

Not really. I was afraid of the tin foil burning through the thinner layers of clay, but all worked out just fine. _________________ love the system |

It's brilliantly done.
I personally think a bidding on a few MINDistortion figurines would go very well for you. _________________

That's no beer belly, that's a candy belly >: -|
I think for now the future figurines I'll make will remain my babies. Maybe once I feel that they are ready to walk out into the big big world I'll consider to put some of them on eBay. _________________ love the system |

Websites aren't signatures. Signatures are signatures.
